Difficult day in Bosnia and Herzegovina: 20 dead, more than 1,500 newly infected
Authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have another black record on their hands again today, as 1,534 new cases of coronavirus were discovered in the last 24 hours, while 20 people died.
According to Avaz, data on COVID-19 in the past 24 hours arrived from both entities, the FBiH and the RS, while it is expected for the Brcko District.
In the last 24 hours, 1,720 samples were reported to the Public Health Institute of the Federation of BiH (FBiH), of which 909 were positive for coronavirus. New cases have been registered in all cantons and districts there. So far, a total of 196,308 samples have been tested, and coronavirus has been confirmed in 27,649 individuals.
As of Tuesday, 18,567 patients have been cured in the Federation of BiH, 275 in the past 24 hours. There are currently 8,358 active coronavirus-positive cases.
There has been a worsening of the epidemiological situation in some local communities when it comes to coronavirus and the number of positive cases in relation to the number of those tested is worrying, the director of the Institute for Public Health of the Serb Republic (RS), Branislav Zeljkovic, pointed out today.
Zeljkovic said that out of 1,417 tested samples there were 625 recorded cases of coronavirus in the RS in the last 24 hours.
"The epidemiological situation is deteriorating day by day. The institute and the labs have increased the number of tests," Zeljkovic told a press conference in Banja Luka.
