Ivan Kontic questioned in Podgorica, agrees to be extradited to Serbia
Ivan Kontic (30), who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of beating M.M. (28) in Novi Sad on August 24, was questioned today before a judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica, who ordered him put in extradition detention.
As Vijesti has learned, Kontic agreed to be turned over to Serbia under expedited procedure.
He was arrested yesterday in a rented apartment in the Montenegrin capital. Serbia issued an international arrest warrant for him on suspicion that he broke M.M.'s arm.
The incident happened in front of a bar in Jevrejska Street in Novi Sad, and the beating was recorded by security cameras.
He is charged with attempted murder.
The public was appalled by the video of brutal violence showing at that time unidentified perpetrator beat an unconscious young man. As can be seen in the video, passers-by and security tried to separate him from the victim, but without success.
Complete chaos arose only later, when the attacker turned the beaten and unconscious man on his stomach and started breaking his arms.
The cause of this horrific violence has not been revealed, nor have the details about the health condition of the victim.
