30 migrants tried to "break through" Horgos border crossing: They hid even among frozen peas

Customs officers, in cooperation with the police, discovered over 30 illegal migrants at the Horgos border crossing within just a few hours on October 7.

Thanks to a top of the line modern mobile scanner, whose rays penetrate even the thickest steel, customs officers clearly see the contents of trucks' cargos, thus spotting around 10 o'clock yesterday three human silhouettes in a cargo of frozen peas transported by a Belarus truck from Serbia to Russia. Three young men, most likely from Afghanistan, were indeed hiding among the boxes of frozen vegetables.

Around noon the same day, three illegals were detected in a truck of a domestic carrier that was transporting aluminum strips to Germany.

Afterwards, a truck with German license plates was scanned, which was transporting parts of rail vehicles to Austria. The analysis of the image showed human contours among the mentioned goods, and when the trailer was opened, six young men were found inside without any personal documents.

As many as seven young men from a Middle Eastern country were found in an identical load, in a truck with Serbian plates whose final destination was also Austria.

Five more were discovered in the cargo of car tires in a truck with Cacak, Serbia license plates, that was on its way to Sweden.

Three more migrants were hiding among crates of metal packaging that a truck with Novi Pazar, Ser bia was transporting from Turkey to the Czech Republic.

Four migrants were found in a truck that set off from North Macedonia on its way to Germany, loaded with square pipes.

Although they can often witness illegal passengers trying to cross the border at any cost, customs officers are often overwhelmed by their readiness to embark on extremely risky undertakings.

These, mostly younger people, do not hesitate to risk everything, even their lives, by being transported in extremely inhumane and unsafe conditions in order to reach their goal - one of the EU states.

According to data available to the Customs Administration, 935 migrants have been thwarted in their attempt to cross the state border illegally since the beginning of this year.
