More intensive control of passengers for wearing masks begins today in the city transport in Belgrade.

The Secretariat for Public Transport announced during the weekend that they had sent a notification to all carriers taking part in regular public transport in Belgrade, stating that drivers are under obligation to control whether passengers entering a vehicle wear masks.

A statement from that secretariat said the front door is intended for entry of passengers, and that if a passenger enters a vehicle without a mask, the driver is under obligation to warn them to leave, reports Tanjug.

If a passenger without a mask refuses to leave the vehicle, the driver must contact the dispatcher at the Secretariat for Public Transport who will inform the nearest police patrol.

The statement recalled that notices and information about the ban on entering vehicles without a protective mask are displayed inside and outside of public transport vehicles.

The decision on the ban on entry without a mask has been in force since July 6, while the fine for non-compliance is 5,000 dinars.

The implementation of the decision is controlled by the Sanitary Inspection of the Ministry of Health, with the assistance of the Communal Police.
