Crisis HQ answers whether data on the number of deaths in Serbia was being hidden

At the press conference of the Crisis HQ, Dr. Predrag Kon said that none of the data was ever hidden.

"It is important to stress that nothing is ever hidden regarding the data. This is the data of the Batut Institute and it's the only relevant one," Dr. Kon said when journalist asked about a revision of the mortality rate figure.

"We promised a review and so far it has not been done, we promised, we will do it, it is done when you have a calm situation, it takes time to do it properly. Is the topic the number of positive cases today, the anti-epidemic measures in Serbia - it is not. Is the topic the functioning of the health system, the performance of doctors, they are no longer the topics because we have solved them," added Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar.

According to Dr. Kon, it is necessary to do reviews in order to know the complete truth.

"Nothing I said contradicts what the minister said. This is about an assessment, not something that is completely reliable. One possible explanation is that doctors did not report the deaths. It is very possible that there were significantly more deaths. These are two numbers, 345 and 118, which are regularly reported, I said at the time that it was three times the number, I shouldn't have, because it simply causes a completely unbelievable reaction. In no way can it be made or applied to the whole of Serbia, something that is only an estimate. On the other hand, it's important to point out that it is necessary to do a review, so that we know the whole truth," Kon added.

Jankovic: Revision after the epidemic

Dr. Srdja Jankovic said that scientific research has revealed that the number of patients and deaths in the world has been higher.

"That's not unexpected. Some things cannot be determined on a daily basis, but periodically. Revision is something that can be done after the epidemic," Dr. Jankovic pointed out.

He stressed that the data may differ due to the way they it has been collected.

The Crisis HQ never announced data other than what was in the information system, said Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar, while replying to questions from journalists.

One more person dies over past 24 hours

Another 73 people were infected with coronavirus over the previous 24 hoursm, and in that time and one more person died, it was announced on Friday.

6,661 people have been tested, of which 1.10 percent were positive for Covid 19.

There are 23 patients on ventilators.
