An unusual sight in the sky baffles Belgraders: Photos keep coming in, we find out what it is

After several cloudy and rainy days, there was sunshine over Belgrade this morning. Add to that the fact that it is Friday, and for many citizens this would be a winning combination.

However, this morning while driving to work, many noticed an unusual appearance in the sky. More precisely, one part of the city was basking in sunlight, while the other was in the shadow because of a very strange cloud in the sky.

"These are not clouds, this is a giant carpet stretched across the sky," wrote one reader who sent us photos.

What further intrigued another of our readers is that the cloud looks as if it had been cut with a knife, and suddenly there's the blue sky.

"It looks like someone broke it in two or cut it with a knife, no movement, no small clouds. Just some border, and then the blue sky again," wrote another reader.

This is not the first time that such unusual clouds have been "rolling" over Belgrade. Several times the "carpet-cloud" covered the city, and the border was often right above the Ada Bridge, which made many people say that HAARP is placed in the tower of the bridge. However, there is no reason for conspiracy theories. These clouds are a completely normal phenomenon in our country and anywhere in the world.

They are called stratocumulus, layered low clouds, which develop at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,000 meters. Their carpet-like shape is the result of strong winds blowing above the cloud, and they mostly appear when sudden changes in weather occur, as has happened in Serbia.
