Two killed as migrants clash in Bosnia: They started fighting behind a hospital, locals call police

Two people were killed, ten had serious and eight light injuries as a result of a clash between a large group of migrants that took place near their settlement in Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The incident happened last night at around 10 pm, and that information has been confirmed for the Klix portal by a spokesperson of the Ministry of the Interior of the Una-Sana Canton, Ale Siljdedic, who said that a distraught local woman reported this incident.

He added that the clash took place right behind the Cantonal Hospital in Bihac, in Zegarsko Polje, where migrants have created an unofficial tent settlement, located on their transit route to Pljesevica, towards Croatia.

"Immediately upon receiving the report, our police patrols went to the scene finding between 70 and 80 migrant who were taking out the injured. It was a clash between a group of migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan. All the injured and dead are citizens of Pakistan, their identity is not known yet, we will work on establishing that. In consultation with the prosecutor, it has been confirmed that this was a criminal act of murder," said Siljdedic.

Siljdedic added that the police would work on the investigation, but that it is further complicated by the assumption that the migrants who took part in the fight probably fled to a nearby forest.

"Now we most likely should search that terrain to find them all. The place where they clashed is not inhabited, it's a meadow, but it's in the immediate vicinity of an inhabited area and a hospital, so citizens got upset and are potentially in danger. Knives and blunt objects were used in the clash," said Siljdedic.
