In the first two weeks of classes in primary and secondary schools, a total of 52 students and 20 employees got infected with coronavirus, says Minister of Education Mladen Sarcevic and adds that these are sporadic cases, considering that there are about 850,000 students in schools in Serbia.

He specified for TV Pink that 25 students got infected in 1,250 primary schools in Serbia, and that out of that number, six were not even attending classes.

"16 students have been infected in Belgrade, then there are sporadic cases in Sombor, Novi Pazar, Zajecar, Vranje, Nis, Leskovac," he stressed and added that seven teachers also got infected in primary schools.

The minister said that children go to school wearing masks, that distance is maintained, that teachers have done a good job and that schools are today the safest place, where the possibility of transmission is much lower than in parks and sports areas where children socialize outside the school.

Sarcevic once again appealed on individuals not to take photos and record children at school, because that is prohibited by law.

"I guarantee that schools are the safest place in the country. Unauthorized filming of other people's children is prohibited," the minister said.

He noted that education inspectors are checking daily whether preventive measures are being implemented in schools.
