Vucic on call with Putin: Regardless of difficult position, Serbia remains Russia's true partner

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke on the phone with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and informed him about the talks in Washington and Brussels.

President Vucic and President Putin exchanged views about the situation in the Balkans and discussed current issues of the strategic Serbian-Russian partnership, including the development of dialogue at the highest level.

The two interlocutors confirmed that Serbia and Russia are sincere friends, whose cooperation is based on mutual trust.

President Vucic stressed that Serbia is a militarily neutral country, and President Putin welcomed this firm commitment of Serbia.

"Regardless of the difficulty and complexity of its geopolitical, military-security and economic position, Serbia will protect the principles of military neutrality and will remain a true and fair partner to the Russian Federation," President Vucic emphasized.

Predsednik Republike Srbije Aleksandar Vučić razgovarao je telefonom sa predsednikom Ruske Federacije Vladimirom Putinom i obavestio ga o razgovorima u Vašingtonu i Briselu. Predsednik Vučić i predsednik Putin su ovom prilikom razmenili mišljenja o situaciji na Balkanu i razgovarali o aktuelnim pitanjima strateškog srpsko-ruskog partnerstva, uključujući razvoj dijaloga na najvišem nivou. Predsednik Vučić je predsedniku Putinu izrazio zahvalnost na nepromenjivoj podršci Rusije teritorijalnom integritetu i suverenitetu Srbije, kao i naporima za održavanje mira i stabilnosti u regionu. Predsednik Vladimir Putin je rekao da će Ruska Federacija pružati političku podršku Srbiji u njenim naporima za očuvanje svog teritorijalnog integriteta i svoje spoljnopolitičke akcije koordinisati sa Srbijom, a sve sa ciljem zaštite međunarodnog javno-pravnog poretka. President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Federation would provide political support to Serbia in its efforts to preserve its territorial integrity, and coordinate its foreign policy actions with Serbia, all with the goal of protecting international public-legal order.

President Vucic and President Putin pointed out that economic ties between Serbia and Russia are constantly strengthening, but that opportunities for cooperation in the field of economy are far greater than the ones utilized right now, so there is room for new joint projects.

The head of the Russian state also issued a statement about this conversation, saying that special attention was paid to the Kosovo issue.

President Aleksandar Vucic informed Putin about the talks held in Washington on September 4 and in Brussels on September 7.
