Krivokapic, Becic and Abazovic: No change of coat of arms, anthem, no Kosovo recognition withdrawal
Leaders of the three tickets that won a majority in the elections - Zdravko Krivokapic, Aleksa Becic and Dritan Abazovic - have signed an agreement which, among other things, promises that the new Montenegrin government would not initiate any initiatives or procedures aimed at changing the state flag, coat of arms and anthem.
According to Vijesti, the leaders of the coalitions "For the Future of Montenegro", "Peace is our Nation" and "Black and White" which won the necessary majority in the elections to form a government, signed their agreement yesterday, and publicly presented it today.
The agreement states that the new democratic government in Montenegro will responsibly implement all international obligations undertaken by the state, strengthen and improve cooperation with NATO and quickly, fully and in a committed manner implement all reforms necessary for Montenegro's full membership in the EU.
"The new democratic government will completely depoliticize key government institutions in order to ensure uncompromising fight against crime and corruption. The new democratic government will respect the Constitution and in that regard will not launch any initiatives or procedures with the goal of changing the state flag, coat of arms and anthem," reads the agreement.
Also, it is added, the new government will not initiate procedure for withdrawing Montenegro's recognition of Kosovo.
The new government, as stated, will not engage in revanchism on political or any other basis, and will adopt and revise all laws in line with European standards in order to speed up Montenegro's integration into the EU as soon as possible and will allow minority parties to participate in government regardless of their parliamentary status.
"Every fight against corruption is a fight for Montenegro," said the leader of the list of the coalition "For the Future of Montenegro" Zdravko Krivokapic, and added: "If you catch us in corruption, report us."
Krivokapic also spoke about the Law on Freedom of Religion.
"Respecting European standards, we will do the same for this law, which is not explicitly in the agreement, but I think it is completely clear that no one has anything against the adoption of this law, the only problem is that it now endangers property. The one who endangers property and does not enable the most important right of freedom has shown what that means," said Krivokapic.
Abazovic said that the future government will have the support of the international community.
"The future government must dedicate itself to the economic situation in the country. We are facing great economic and social challenges, accumulated problems, empty coffers, the fight against corruption and crime. The future government has the task to dedicate itself to these issues the most," said Abazovic.
He also said that they held talks about personal solutions in the government.
"I think you will be surprised," said Abazovic.
