Serbian government adopts declaration concerning negotiations in Washington

During today's session, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted a declaration in support of the activities of the president of the Republic of Serbia related to talks with representatives of the provisional institutions of self-government in Pristina, Telegraf has been told.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic says the Government of Serbia, with the declaration it adopted today, provided the strongest support to President Aleksandar Vucic in, as she points out, very difficult and complex talks he is leading in Washington in the best interest of the citizens of Serbia.

"It is of crucial importance at this moment to be united, because only united can we be successful in fighting for our interests," said Brnabic and added that it is extremely important that progress is achieved in these talks.

According to the adopted document, proceeding from the previously established principles that representatives of the Republic of Serbia will strive to find agreement and a comprehensive solution for Kosovo and Metohija through negotiations, the government supports the activities of President Aleksandar Vucic on the occasion of the upcoming talks between Belgrade and Pristina on September 3 and 4, 2020 in Washington, US, which will be held under the auspices of US diplomat Richard Grenell.

It is also stated that the government believes the activities of President Vucic so far have been in the best interest of protecting the interests of the Republic of Serbia in Kosovo and Metohija, and that progress related to open economic issues, which will benefit citizens and the economy, is the primary expectation from the upcoming talks.
