Parliamentary elections were held in Montenegro on Sunday, with a record turnout and a historic result for the opposition.

Opposition supporters took to the streets to celebrate, while congratulatory message started to arrive from all parts.

Srdjan Djokovic, the father of the famous Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, congratulated the opposition on the results.

"Congratulations to Montenegro of our ancestors who proved that they know how to, and can do it, and who seized victory when it was most needed. Kudos to the future authorities by the coalitions 'For the Future of Montenegro', to my friends from the Democratic Front, to the Democrats of Aleksa Becic, and especially to the coalition 'Black-and-White' led by Dritan Abazovic. I am certain that they will be that government that will do proud all citizens of Montenegro and us who consider it our fatherland. Thank you Montenegro!," said Djokovic.

According to the final results of Sunday's parliamentary elections in Montenegro released by the State Election Commission, the DPS won 35.06 percent, while the coalition "For the Future of Montenegro" received 32.55 percent of the votes.
