Croatia shuts down nightclubs: Owners of clubs in Zadar move parties to boats

Owners of establishments in Zadar have moved parties from clubs to so-called party boats, after the Croatian National Civil Protection Headquarters shut down bars and nightclubs last week.

For the coming weekend, two Zadar clubs have organized excursion boats that will sail through the Zadar archipelago and represent floating clubs, reports the Index portal.

"Coronavirus should be stopped for the sake of all people, but in all the measures that have been adopted and are in force, the most abused group of people are hospitality workers who are trying to do something and work," said the co-owner of the Zadar based Opera Club, Pjerino Bebic.

He said he would organize excursions for clients and guests, as well as that it had nothing to do with nightclubs - and that he would have a maximum of 150 people on board.

The daily Zadarski adds that the Zadar bar Hype has decided to do the same.

The head of the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Zadar County, Sime Vickovic, says that both clubs have reported their events to the Civil Protection.

"They organize excursion tours around the Zadar archipelago. The owners used that opportunity to work because the decision on the measure  limiting opening hours of hospitality facilities does not include excursion boats," he said.
