Draft law on protection of so-called KLA's legacy fails. Albanians did not receive support

The draft law on the protection of the values of the fight of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) has not been passed today, because it received support from only 35 members of the Assembly, Kosovo Online is reporting.
Self-Determination Movement and Democratic League of Kosovo deputies did not vote today for the draft law, Lajmi said.
Only 35 members of the Assembly (deputies) voted in favor of the law, while one was against.
All Democratic Party of Kosovo deputies present at the session voted in favor of the law, as did those from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, NISMA, and deputies representing non-Serb minorities.
Although the session was attended by deputies of the Self-Determination and of the Democratic League of Kosovo, they did not participate in the voting at all, thus blocking the adoption of the law aimed at protecting war values of the so-called KLA.
Earlier, the embassies of the US, Germany, Switzerland, as well as the EU and OSCE objected to the draft law, because they believe that it endangers freedom of speech and rights of citizens.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that draft law, which the Pristina authorities planned to adopt, was an attempt to force Serbs to think like Albanians or get them arrested if they spoke differently.
The law also sought to determine an "institutional and civil obligation to protect the values of the KLA fight" and aimed to criminally prosecute those violating its provisions.
Representatives of Serbs in Kosovo warned earlier that they were worried about the announced vote on the draft law which, as the US ambassador pointed out, would have additionally restrict their already limited freedom of speech in Kosovo.
