Doctor: Unfavorable situation in 2 towns, good portion out of control, treated in private clinics

The epidemiological situation due to coronavirus is unfavorable in Bujanovac and Presevo, and out of control, says Professor Doctor Branislav Tiodorovic, an epidemiologist and member of the Crisis HQ for the fight against coronavirus.

163 samples were sent for testing yesterday from the Pcinj District, 15 of which were positive. According to the data of the Institute of Public Health in Vranje, there were two new patients from Bujanovac. There are 109 patients in Vranje's Covid hospitals, while 12 have been discharged for home treatment.

Tiodorovic told RTS that the situation in that part of Serbia is unfavorable and that a good portion of the situation in Presevo ​​and Bujanovac is out of control, as well as that it can be said that the situation is serious.

"It is unfavorable. A good portion of that situation in Bujanovac and Presevo is out of control because there is no complete insight into the sick and infected among the population. They often receive treatment in private clinics and in Kosovo and Metohija, where they also go to the healthcare system. Then it's late and then those patients come with severe problems, a severe clinical picture, to the hospitals in Vranje, as well as in Nis and the special hospital in Surdulica," Tiodorovic stressed.

That shows, he noted, that much more work needs to be done with the population.

"In any case, the right place are Covid clinics and hospitals in this area," Tiodorovic stressed and added that the Bujanovac healthcare center has received a new RG device:

"On the other hand, the Healthcare Center in Presevo and Bujanovac will get everything that is needed to provide necessary services in the Covid clinic."

This number does not exceed the capacity of the Covid hospital in Vranje, Surdulica and the Clinical Center Nis.

"There are fewer admissions than releases, there are enough free beds, there's capacity," Tiodorovic stressed.

According to public health data in Vranje, there have been two new cases from Bujanovac.
