Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Traffic Police Administration, stopped the driver of an Audi who was driving at 225.8 kilometers per hour under the influence of psychoactive substances, on the Sid-Belgrade highway, near Belgrade.

The driver was stopped during traffic control carried out by using the so-called "interceptor" device, the police said.

Police officers filed a misdemeanor complaint for aggressive driving against the 34-year-old, who was driving at a speed of 225.8 kilometers per hour on the part of the highway where the speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour.

Considering that the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances, he was detained by the police for 12 hours.

The misdemeanor court then sentenced the perpetrator to a fine of 256 hours of community service, a fine of 140,000 dinars (about 1,200 euros), 23 penalty points against his driving record, and a 12-month ban on driving a motor vehicle.

The police are appealing on drivers to adjust the speed of their vehicles to existing legal norms, since speeding is the most common cause of traffic accidents.
