Serbs rush to Greece, Greeks in disbelief: This is what it was like at the border at 6 am
The Greeks took pity and let them in. Then they banned entry again, and then once again let some people in. Well, then they finally stuck to the decision
An incredible situation played out this morning at the Promachonas border crossing between Bulgaria and Greece, which forced the Greek authorities to allow Serbian tourists trapped in a kilometers-long column of cars into the country.
Although according to an official decision, the plan was to close the border for Serbian tourists starting at 6 in the morning, this did not happen exactly on the dot.
According to the website newsit.gr, Serbs rushed en masse last night to cross the border by 6 am, which created kilometers-long lines.
Although the Greek authorities decided to allow in the people who had been waiting for hours - confusion arose again.
Namely, the ban was in fact in force starting at 6 in the morning, which is why the authorities implemented it, only for our people to continue to insist. The Greeks gave in again and released several cars with mandatory coronavirus testing, to then change their mind.
"We arrived at the border at around 3:15 Greek time, reached the counter at 7:30 and they turned us back," said one of the Serbian tourists.
Greek media are reporting that once again there was complete confusion before the Greek authorities finally banned Serbian tourists from entering, and that after 6 am, entering Greece looked like a game show.
