Thaci's first reaction after he was indicted for war crimes
A day after the Specialist Prosecutor's Office for war crimes committed in Kosovo from January 1998 until December 2000 announced that it on April 24 handed over indictments against Hashim Thaci and Kadri Veseli to judges for confirmation, Thaci's first reaction was to put the "KLA" emblem on the front page of his Facebook profile.
However, Thaci reacted once again yesterday, to cancel his trip to Washington, which he was literally about to embark on when the news came about the initiation of proceedings regarding the indictment.
He made no other comment except to say that he was canceling the trip.
And while, on the one hand, the official reaction from Hashim Thaci is still missing, the political consequences of yesterday's "earthquake" are already noticeable in Kosovo.
The Assembly session that was supposed to be held this morning was canceled, while President Vjosa Osmani instead held a meeting with the Quint ambassadors.
She said on Twitter that she had a productive meeting with the ambassadors in Pristina and thanked everyone, as she stated, for continuing to support Kosovo.
The prime minister of the provisional institutions of Pristina, Avdulah Hoti, instead of flying from Brussels to Washington canceled that trip this morning after the news about Thaci and Veseli. In Brussels, he met with President of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs David McAllister and Charles Michael - the president of the EU Council.
In his Twitter post, he put the emphasis on the issue of visa liberalization and the European future of Kosovo, as well as the European financial package for assistance in the pandemic.
