Dramatic footage from Lucani: Tijanje River overflows, houses flooded, traffic stopped

Due to heavy rainfall that hit Dragacevo yesterday, the municipal watercourses of the first and second order, as well as the Tijanja River, have overflowed.

"At the moment, three households are flooded, residential and auxiliary facilities in Tijanje are under water," Milivoje Dolovic, the president of the municipality of Lucani, told RINA.

The large amount of water that spilled over stopped traffic on the Guca-Lucani road in the settlement of Puhovo.

"On-duty teams are at the Lucanski Stream near the pumping station where they are pumping out water, as are all the teams of the public company Dragacevo Putevi and Komunalac because there has been great damage to uncategorized roads, as well as to several bridges in Tijanje and Turica," Dolovic stressed.

The degree of damage done to the bridges will be determined after the Tijanje River withdraws to its bed, while all on-duty teams were in the field throughout the night.

For now, there is no danger of the Bjelica River flooding Djeradj and Dljina, because according to Dolovic, the new embankment is working well as a defense system.
