Thiem and Zverev delighted with Novak's welcome: They arrived in Belgrade on private planes
The best tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic, the host of Adria Tour, together with his brother Djordje, the director of the tournament, today first welcomed Austrian Dominic Thiem directly on the airport runway, while 30 minutes later Alexander Zverev flew in from Germany on a private plane.
The players were delighted with this kind of welcome, saying that they were happy to come to Adria Tour.
"Thank you Novak for organizing an event like this, which has a primarily humanitarian aspect. Of course, we will do our best to provide the best possible tennis and to give a good experience to the audience," said Thiem.
Zverev arrived in the company of his significant other, but also a couple of members of his staff.
"I missed hanging out with tennis players. We haven't seen each other since Indian Wells. I'm sure this is going to be a remarkable event, in a city I haven’t been to in a long time. Belgrade remained in my fond memories, here and in Novi Sad I used to play the futures, but I didn't get to see much," the German explained.
