"10,000 young people came to Belgrade, they certainly brought coronavirus to student dorms"
We must pay attention to student dorms, 10,000 young people came to Belgrade from elsewhere, they certainly brought the virus from the areas they came from," Dr. Branislav Tiodorovic has told TV Prva this morning.
"They have been tested, the situation in the dorm in Karaburma is, as far as I know, under control, all measures are being implemented, that will continue to be in store for us. In Nis, we also prepared a part of a facility for students who came from other parts of Serbia, even from outside Serbia. All student centers must take care of that," said Tiodorovic.
Some students are infected, others are in quarantine.
"The obligation of those who run student dormitories is to organize triage, to see if students have a fever or some problems. However, such cases have been rare. In general, they were all completely healthy, to later, when they arrived at university, develop some of the problems. Most cases are asymptomatic. Infection can definitely occur in Serbia as well."
It was said that the epidemic was over, that we could behave normally, almost all restrictive measures have been lifted.
"There is no basis for stories that there is no virus, that it is not so dangerous, that its virulence is reduced. That is simply not the case. And those who do not have symptoms can be sources of infection, the epidemic continues, the pandemic as well, we must be paying attention. The measures have been largely softened, so that people and the economy could function. We did not say that all measures must be abolished. People relaxed too much, and we are warning, especially when it comes to older people, masks for them must be mandatory indoors, we must keep our distance, wash our hands," Tiodorovic added.
One of the main questions is can grandchildren now be with their grandparents?
"At a distance of two meters, the virus will not be transmitted, but there is no kissing, hugging, close relations. We still stress that for indoors."
As Dr. Tiodorovic added, "in the south of Serbia, the situation is calming down."
"We have tests that are conducted especially in Vranje, we had large collectives affected by the infection, primarily young people who did not have symptoms, but we controlled them so they would not to infect the elderly. The situation is calm in Vlasotince, Pirot, Leskovac."
