I hid that I was training to avoid angering other players: Novak talks about conditions in Marbella!
Novak Djokovic has announced the Adria Tour in Belgrade, but also admitted how he worked during the break.
The best player in the world did everything to help the lower ranked tennis players, provoked different reactions with his gestures, but not many understood him the best.
That is why he now admitted that he also trained as much as possible, because he had the conditions for that in Marbella.
- I had the opportunity to train almost every day during coronavirus because we stayed in a house next to a tennis court. I played a lot of tennis on a hard surface, but I didn't upload anyhing on the net so as not to angering other players. I started recently on clay, I had two training sessions here, I feel good physically. I was quite active, I followed my program. Of course, the intensity decreases because I was not preparing for tournaments, but I look at the Adria Tour very seriously.
- I wish that all tennis players who come - for the first time Zverev, Thiem and Dimitrov will be here - return with a positive impression of our country and the organization and the tournament. I mediate in the organization, I started the whole idea of the project and I communicate every day with TSS (Serbian Tennis Federation) and the company that organizes all this. The current international competitions, ITF and ATP will not happen before the first of August, and even that is uncertain. Afterwards, I will have time again if things resume on a hard surface in America, because I will have a month to prepare for the continuation of the season.
The Adria Tour tournament will be played on clay.
- The surface will be clay because it is easier to organize those. 90 percent of courts in the region are clay and for someone like me who plays the entire Adriatic season on clay, there is time to switch again, it's easier to choose clay organization-wise.
Novak is also thinking about about Sarajevo as a tennis destination.
- First of all, as I mentioned, we are working on the goal of achieving all these locations behind me, including Sarajevo, where the end of the whole tour would happen, where I would play against Dzumhur. If there is the possibility for a double, then we would probably play with Mirza Basic, Brkic, and whoever is available. The locations of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are not 100% sure because we've dedicated more time to Serbia and Croatia, since those two locations are the first dates, the closest now, and we had to make sure that everything went as it should, and that is certainly so. Now we are committed more to Montenegro and Banja Luka and Sarajevo, and we hope that will come true.
