President Aleksandar Vucic spoke by phone with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, as previously confirmed for Telegraf.rs

President Vucic expressed his condolences to President Putin over the victims of Covid-19 in Russia, as well as the hope that, with decisive measures, the country would successfully fight the coronavirus epidemic and return to normal life and economic flows as soon as possible, in order to dedicate itself to fulfilling plans for the future. He also said that Serbia is ready to, if necessary and within its capabilities, provide assistance to Russia in the fight against this contagious disease.

At the same time, President Vucic thanked President Putin for confirming extraordinary strategic relations between Serbia and Russia by showing concern for our country and sending medical assistance. "Serbia is privileged to have a sincere friend like Russia, just as I am honored by our personal relationship of mutual respect and trust," President Vucic told President Putin.

Vucic informed his interlocutor in Moscow that he had made the decision, with the consent of the Russian side, to honor members of a team of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, who with great dedication helped prevent the spread of coronavirus and suppress the infectious disease Covid-19, by putting the epidemic quickly under control in the largest hotspots in Serbia.

President Vucic informed President Putin about all events in the region - from the situation in Kosovo and Metohija to the persecution of the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro.

The two presidents also discussed the interior painting of the Temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade and agreed that it is necessary to continue working together soon, so that this Orthodox shrine could be completed as planned, with Russia's help.

President Vucic and President Putin said they expect the circumstances to soon allow for a resumption of high-level visits and continuation of previously planned interstate contacts.

President Vucic expressed satisfaction that Victory Day, despite the postponement of the traditional parade on Red Square, was marked with dignity and that Serbian and Russian people, in the spirit of their freedom and respect for their heroes, are not allowing history to be falsified.
