"Serbia no longer has a single serious hotspot": Current situation in south, other critical places
At a regular conference dedicated to the situation with coronavirus in Serbia, speaking about the current hotspots of Covid-19, epidemiologist Dr. Predrag Kon said that a few days ago it was the south of Serbia, that is, the area around Nis, Jagodina, Cuprija, Paracin and Prokuplje - but also that now this situation has calmed down and that our country no longer has virus hotspots.
"We no longer have any serious hotspots, it is below 15 percent everywhere, and in most parts of Serbia it is also below 10 percent, in Vojvodina it is less and is getting extinguished, in Belgrade it's 6 percent, and at the level of the whole Serbia it's also about 6 percent infection rate," said Kon.
He stressed that when it comes to the possible emergence of new hotspots, he does not see where the virus could reignite.
"But opening borders and traffic is something that is serious and international. Immunology passports are now also being talked about and so far this is all at the discussion level. And now, like in the beginning, we have threats of positive people entering our country. This is what happened in China, which is why it's best not to travel and to spend this summer in your own country. Firstly, because it's safest, and secondly, not only will you go and get infected personally, and you will bring the virus back with you. But we also need to think about what to do with those people coming to our country and what measures to take towards them," said Kon.
