Coronavirus infects 15-day-old baby and her mother: They're transferred to KBC "Dragisa Misovic"

A 15-day-old baby and her mother have been infected with coronavirus and transferred from Kosovska Mitrovica to the Clinical-Hospital Center (KBC) "Dr Dragisa Misovic" in Belgrade overnight, RTS reports.

The public broadcaster received confirmation of this news from Acting Director of the Mitrovica Hospital Zlatan Elek.

The baby and mother are from Zubin Potok and have a mild clinical picture that is not life-threatening.

They have been transferred on the Ministry's recommendation because there are no conditions for treatment at the Kosovska Mitrovica Hospital.

According to Kosovo Online, Elek said they are in good condition.

"The mother and the baby were transferred to Belgrade's Dragisa Misovic hospital last night. They are in good condition. They have tested positive for coronavirus," said Dr. Elek.

The same media outlet reports that the head of the Children's ward of the KBC in Mitrovica, Dr. Zoran Savic, said that mother and the child that is 15 days old are from Zubin Potok, and that they are now at the children's ward for pulmonary diseases of "Dr Dragisa Misovic" hospital in Belgrade.

"The mother and the child were admitted to our ward on April 13, were tested the next day and the results showed to be positive. According to the mother, she did not have any symptoms, while the baby needed oxygen the first night, and the next day it was much better," said Dr. Savic.

He pointed out that since Kosovska Mitrovica had no conditions for treatment of such young children, the mother and the baby have been sent to Belgrade.

The number of those confirmed to have Covid-19 in the Serb areas in Kosovo and Metohija has increased to 58, as seven more people have tested positive.

RTS reports that three people have been cured, while three others died.
