Apocalyptic scenes in Jagodina: 14 hospital cars burn down, roof collapses, flames engulf building
In a fire that broke out in the garage of the Jagodine General Hospital, a building and 14 cars of the Health Center, the hospital and of the branches of the Jagodina Health Insurance Fund were burned down, Director of the Health Center Dr. Darko Miletic confirmed to Tanjug this morning.
This was a garage, a facility separate from other General Hospital buildings and there were no casualties as the fire did not spread to the surrounding hospital buildings, the chapel, or te nearby homes and residential buildings.
The fire broke out around 5:15 pm yesterday. Firefighters fought to localize and extinguish the flames for several hours and, according to the Interior Ministry, 11 firefighters - with nine fire trucks - participated.
At the site of the fire, the scene are are apocalyptic: burned cars, collapsed parts of the roof, while firefighters and the police guarding access.
Material damage is enormous.
The cause of the fire and the amount of damage will be known after an investigation has been completed, which will be carried out today.
