Dodik urges believers to stay in their homes for Easter, Vucic announces new meting with patriarch
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with Serb Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik.
The focus of the meeting was to jointly fight coronavirus and prevent the spread of the epidemic.
Vucic: New aid contingent for RS next week
The president of Serbia emphasized that the friendship between the Serb Republic (RS) and Serbia is this time once again showing itself in its full glory.
"We have already sent aid to the RS, but next week we will send another contingent of assistance in the form of medical protective equipment," said Vucic.
Speaking about the situation in Serbia, the president said he received encouraging results in the last 24 hours, but urged citizens to continue to remain in their homes because the virus is still spreading seriously.
"Naš je posao da štitimo živote ljudi. Želim da u ime Republike Srbije pozdravim narod Republike Srpske i Bosne i Hercegovine i da kažem da smo u ovim trenucima svi zajedno. Važno je da iskažemo veliku solidarnost sa našim narodom u Republici Srpskoj. Srbija je pomogla na različite načine Republici Srpskoj, pružili smo značajnu podršku u medicinskim aparatima i zaštitnoj opremi, uputićemo još značajniju podršku u narednim danima."A post shared by Aleksandar Vučić (@buducnostsrbijeav) onView this post on Instagram
"Today, I will again call on the patriarch to appeal on believers not to leave their homes for (Orthodox) Easter, to watch liturgies on TV where they will be broadcast. We will obey the letter of the law and we will not prevent priests from conducting the service," said the President of Serbia.
Dodik appeals on citizens: Stay in your homes for Easter
After the meeting, Milorad Dodik revealed that he requested a new contingent of assistance in the form of medical equipment from Serbia and that his request was approved.
"One of the most important issues we have addressed is the coming holiday, Easter, and how the citizens will celebrate it. We ask all believers to have understanding and respect for the measures that have been taken. Stay in your homes for Easter and celebrate the holiday in your hearts," Dodik said.
"I appeal on believers and on gatherings to celebrate the holiday. We are used to celebrating, but we should celebrate with our families and respect the measures, I agree with Vucic on this measure fully," said the Serb member of the BiH Presidency and stressed that he would tighten measures in the RS and prohibit additional movement.
