“The expert opinion is very clear,” the doctor stressed

At a regular press conference dedicated to the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia, Dr. Darija Kisic Tepavcevic presented the profession's position - regarding the request and the plea of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) to suspend the police curfew on (Orthodox) Easter Sunday (April 19) from 5 to 10 in the morning, so that Orthodox Christians who are not isolated or self-isolating can take part in the morning service and liturgy - to say that each Sunday and each day are crucial until the moment when the number of the newly discovered cases equals zero.

"Easter is the most joyful Christian holiday and we are always looking forward to it. This year the situation is particular, and it seems that we never needed more faith, will and strength to act accordingly to safeguard ourselves and our loved ones. The expert position is unanimous and completely clear: any gathering that will increase the risk of spreading the infection represent a high risk to the health of our population at the moment," she said, adding that there would be no compromises.

"Expert opinion is very clear. Again, I remark that we need a lot of faith, strength and will to collectively behave the way that is best for us and our loved ones," concluded Dr. Tepavcevic Kisic.
