Predrag Djeleski from Glogonj near Pancevo is the first citizen in Serbia to donate blood plasma after being healed from COVID-19. As he said in a statement to 013info.rs, he donated blood plasma at the Transfusion Institute in Belgrade on Saturday.

"A week ago they called me, so first I had to get a check-up, to see I was eligible to give blood plasma, and then a third coronavirus test was done which is done 21 days after recovery, which came back negative, then we agreed that on Saturday, during the curfew, I should donate bloodpllasma at the Institute,"  he says.

He added that it all took about an hour during which he gave blood, which went through a device where the plasma was separated from the blood, and then returned to his bloodstream.

Djelevski has previously donated blood 15 times and was also the organizer of such campaigns in Glogonj, so this was not unusual for him except that it lasted a little longer.

"Everyone was extremely kind, and at one point Prime Minister Ana Brnabic called me on the phone, which surprised me a lot. She thanked me because blood plasma antibodies would be used to help create serums to help the sick,", he says.

Djelevski is still in home isolation, 28 days after leaving the hospital, and for that reason has been going to Belgrade to donate blood plasma accompanied by the police.

In 15 days, according to medical standards, will be able to donate blood plasma again.

"I advise anyone who can do the same to do it and donate blood plasma, because it helps to heal other people; otherwise, my message is to stay home: Respect the measures, because people are dying from coronavirus," he says.

In his hospital diary, Djelevski kept silent about the name of his "roommate" thanks to whom he got his first cup of coffee while at the hospital - and now it turns out that it was the president of the Football Federation of Serbia, Slavisa Kokeza.
