Radomir Antic, a well-known football coach, died in Madrid at the age of 72 after a short and grave illness, Atletico Madrid has announced.

The former footballer and the former head coach of Serbia is the only coach who has managed Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona in his careeer.

If there is a club that Radomir has always identified with, though, it is Atletico, with which he made history in the 1995/96 season by winning La Liga and the King's Cup. As the head coach of Serbia, he took the national team to the World Cup in South Africa in 2010

"The family of our club mourns the death of one of our legendary coaches, Radomir Antic. You will forever be in our hearts. Rest in peace," said Atletico Madrid.

As we learned, Antic died of pancreatic cancer, which he was diagnosed with after the New Year.

He began his playing career in Sloboda, a team from the town of Uzice in western Serbia (1967-1968), then moved to Partizan Blgrade, where he played for the most of his career (1968-1976).

In the summer of 1976, Antic signed for Fenerbahce, Turkey. He spent two seasons at the Istanbul club before moving to Spain's Real Zaragoza in 1979.

Antic then signed for Luton Town, where he stayed until 1984. In May 1983, he scored a goal that saved the club from relegation and kept in England's premier league - the goal came just 4 minutes before the end of the last game against Manchester City, who subsequently dropped out of the league.

He made his first and only appearance in the jersey of the Yugoslav national team on September 26, 1973 in Belgrade, during a friendly match against the Hungarian national team (1-1).

Antic played for only ten minutes, as he started the game off the bench. He entered the game in the 80th minute to replace the injured Franjo Vladic, who previously replaced Vladimir Petrovic Pizon in the 62nd minute.
