Youngest patient in field hospital is 27 years old: Currently 19 infected from two cities in Cair

Since Saturday, when it became a field hospital in Nis and started admitting people infected with coronavirus, 19 people with a milder or asymptomatic clinical picture have been cared for there.

"These are 11 men and eight women, the oldest patient was born in 1950 and the youngest in 1993. Beside Nis residents, we have people from Krusevac here, since the Clinical Center in Nis is the reference institution for that city. Tests are underway and all patients are under constant medical supervision," said Dr. Goran Stanojevic, coordinator of the temporary hospital, the assistant director of the Clinical Center in Nis.

He said their treatment will continue until two tests within 48 hours show that they are negative for COVID-19.

The Serbian Army has provided 256 beds in the Cair Hall and many facilities will be available to patients to allow them to spend their days in isolation as well as possible, having a library and and free internet access at their disposal.

Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, who recently visited Nis on the occasion of the completion of works at the Cair Hall, announced that another 280 beds were ready in other halls in Nis, and that the Serbian Army is ready to meet the assessements of the Crisis HQ of the City of Nis and put its own facilities at the disposal as well.

The field hospital is secured by members of the Serbian Army.
