Unless young and irresponsible start obeying measures, in next 2 days Serbia will have CATASTROPHE

In the next two days, if young people and all those who do not respect the measures taken to fight coronavirus start doing so, we will have a catastrophe, Professor Branislav Tiodorovic, epidemiologist and advisor to the director of the Institute of Public Health in Nis, tells Telegraf.rs.

He said we should strictly adhere to all measures and the curfew so that even more strict measures are not introduced, that is, so that the ban on movement would not be extended to 24 hours.

Asked if it was time to introduce that measure, he said it would happen unless things changed radically in the next two days.

"In two days the young and the irresponsible must understand that the measures must be respected, otherwise, we will have a catastrophe. Then there will be a need for the police curfew to last 24 hours," said Dr. Tiodorovic.

Tiodorovic added that he noticed that the pensioners respect the measures the most, in 99 percent of cases, which, he said, could not be said for the young.

That is why, as he said, the death rate from coronavirus in Serbia of 2.04 should concern the young and all those who do not respect the measures, addig that 29 percent of atients are younger than 60.

"I don't know if that mortality rate is going to worry some young man, or a group walking around the streets and in the parks without wearing masks, and I saw that. For me, young people are also those in their 40s and 50s, not just youth from schools and universities. Let them not put too much faith in their preserved immunity and say, 'nothing will happen to us, this affects the old'. It has to be a warning when someone who was born in 1974 dies. He did have diabetes and cardiovascular disease, but he was too young. Young people need to take this very seriously. If we don't do that, if all measures are not observed, it will mean nothing to us that we had been able to lower the curve a little, to calm it down a little."
