Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and her ministers today laid a wreath at the site of the assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, who was killed on March 12, 2003 while entering the government building in Nemanjina Street in Belgrade.

Members of the Democratic Party also honored Djindjic by laying their wreaths at the New Cemetery, in the Alley of the Greats, where he is buried.

The current leader of the Democrats, Zoran Lutovac, laid a wreath along with party members, as did Djindjic's former party colleague, today the leader of the New Party, Zoran Zivkovic.

The former prime minister's grave was also visited this morning by numerous citizens who lit candles and left flowers.

This year, that date will be marked only by the laying wreaths and flowers at his grave and at the site where he was shot in the yard of the government building, while the traditional "Walk for Zoran" has been postponed as public rallies have been prohibited until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Djindjic, Serbia's prime minister at the time, and the leader of the Democratic Party, was killed in front of the seat of the Serbian government on March 12, 2003.
