7 more coronavirus cases in Serbia, 4 of them in Nis: 12 people infected in total
130 people have so far been tested for coronavirus in Serbia
In Serbia, infection with the novel coronavirus has been confirmed in seven more people, which makes a total of 12 patients. As we have learned, out of the seven new patients four are in Nis, a town in southern Serbia.
As the Ministry of Health of Serbia announced in a statement posted on the Covid19.rs website at 8 am, since the previous report last night at 6 pm samples taken from 13 people had been tested.
"Seven people tested positive for coronavirus while six were negative," the Ministry of Health said.
To date, a total of 130 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the national reference laboratory of the Torlak Institute.
The first case of the new virus was confirmed in Serbia last Friday, March 6. It was 43-year-old I.DJ. from Backa Topola, who is currently treated at the Clinical Center of Vojvodina.
On Monday, March 9, the virus was confirmed in a Chinese citizen living and working in Belgrade. It was announced yesterday that two young women and a man were also infected with the virus.
The Ministry of Health informs the public that telephone numbers are available, according to the place of residence, from 8 am until 10 pm every day to all those with certain symptoms of respiratory infections reminiscent of coronavirus who have recently stayed in areas affected by COVID-19. By calling these numbers they can get all the necessary information from an on duty epidemiologist, as well as recommendations on how to proceed.
Please note that in such cases it is not necessary to go to a health center or a hospital, or walk outdoors and engage in other activities that can potentially expose other citizens to risk - instead you should immediately contact an epidemiologist by phone, using one of the numbers provided.
