Measures taken in Banja Luka: Students and teachers to be isolated for 14 days due to coronavirus

The Institute of Public Health of the Serb Republic (RS) will have the results of coronavirus tests of students and teachers from the elementary school Branko Copic in Banja Luka tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest.

"These children remain in home isolation for the next 14 days and we ask the parents to observe the isolation period," said the director of the Institute of Public Health, Branislav Zeljkovic, speaking after a meeting of the city crisis headquarters, which established measures after the first two cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Banja Luka.

Among those infected is a student of the elementary school Branko Copic from Banja Luka.

The director of the Banja Luka Health Center, Nevena Todorovic, said that by 11:45 am, more than 35 teachers and students from this school had been tested and that the results were pending.

She appealed on citizens not to panic.

"Caution is necessary, but panic is not," she said.

Mayor Igor Radojicic said that in addition to the school other facilities where first contact was established to have happened have also been disinfected.

"Additional public transport hygiene measures have been ordered," he said, Srpskainfo reports.

He said that the HQ meeting concluded that there was no need for emergency measures such as postponing public events and closing schools.

"We will monitor the development of the situation and decide accordingly," emphasized Radojicic.
