"If there's a problems with migrants, Serbia can close its borders"

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that if the migrant wave that is talked about so much moves towards Serbia and in any way threatens the safety of our people, the border can be closed.

"If anything starts that might endanger the safety of our people, we will consult with our neighbors and do whatever is necessary to protect them. We will take measures. We are ready at all times to preserve the national security and safety of our citizens. If necessary, we will close our borders," Vucic said about the migrant crisis.

He added he would never be against people who have a slightly darker skin color, nor will he demonstrate that by "making spritzers".

"Whatever happens in our country, I will never accept and will fight against fascist statements in our society. Also, Serbia will not be a parking lot for migrants," said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

About the Kosovo issue

Responding to a journalist in Novi Sad who wanted to know how Serbia will respond to Pristina's ultimatum, Vucic asked:

"What ultimatum? That we must recognize them and get nothing? There will be none of that," said Vucic.

Let them do their job, we'll do ours, then let's see who is more successful, said the president, adding that it is crucial to preserve peace and stability.

About taxes

Vucic confirmed today that Washington is serious in its intent for Pristina's taxes on Serbian goods to be abolished, adding that he believes the US will continue with that pressure.

Asked if after his visit to the United States he believes Washington is seriously warning Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to abolish the taxes, Vucic said:

"Absolutely yes. Washington is absolutely serious about wanting Pristina's taxes to be revoked and I am grateful to the people in the White House, first of all, and in the State Department," said the president of Serbia.

He added that he was confident that the US would continue with that pressure.
