Lawyer Branko Lukic, who defends General Ratko Mladic, has requested that the appeal session scheduled for March 17 and 18 be postponed due to Mladic's poor health, the daily Politika writes. He also said that the court refused to allow Russian doctors to become involved in his treatment.

Lukic confirmed for this newspaper that the general is in bad shape, tiring easily and unable to communicate.

"We think he is not capable of attending. The court refused to allow Russian doctors to become involved in the treatment. They examined Mladic, but were not allowed to perform any invasive methods to arrive at accurate findings. They couldn't even draw blood. Doctors at The Hague did not allow them to use their ECG device," says Lukic.

He also said that they (Hague) submitted falsified magnetic resonance imaging tests of his brain.

"They isolated sequences that indicate a problem. They want to conceal that his health is bad, and therefore won't allow access to independent doctors, but only to those on their payroll," said Lukic.

Darko Mladic, the general's son, said in an interview with Telegraf.rs last week that his father's health had deteriorated, while he yesterday explained in detail what kinds of diagnoses he was dealing with, while the family and the defense were kept in the dark about it.
