Serbian ambassador in Beijing: Serbia extends great support to China
Serbian Ambassador to China Milan Bacevic expressed in an interview with China Radio International respect towards the Chinese state administration and its citizens for the way they tackled the major problems that arose over the past few weeks when the country was hit by a coronavirus epidemic.
He stressed that Serbia is now, as it will be in the future, available to China and helping as much as our country can.
"Serbia is a small country, but at present it is providing maximum support to China, not only in words, but also by helping as much as possible. We will continue to monitor what is happening with the virus, keeping in mind that it is our obligation to work every day, to encourage Chinese citizens that we are with them and that it will remain that way in the future," said Bacevic.
He also said that what China did after identifying the virus was a cause of fascination and admiration of all of humanity, because China managed to do what many countries would not be able to do in such a short time.
"It shows the level of patriotism of the people living in China who love their country, the trust of the citizens in those who manage all the operations in this fight. This speaks to the preparedness of Chinese health workers, scientific institutes dealing with virology, all in all, this fight has started to produce results and will, I am sure, intensify in the coming days. And this is confirmed by the fact that two or three days ago it was stated that the number of cured patients was higher than the number of newly infected, or infected patients," he said.
The ambassador also said during the interview that no other country could fight coronavirus the way China does.
"In this struggle, China has shown to all of humanity a good social organization and a high level of awareness of its citizens. China managed to build new hospital centers for patients in 7 to 8 days, which no other country in the world has done. Likewise, Chinese healthcare professionals receive praise from international health organizations and all well-meaning countries. Some help more, some less, but this is a good time to show human solidarity and a high degree of understanding of the problems China is currently facing," he stressed.
Bacevic also addressed the inappropriate attitude of some countries towards Chinese citizens and urged the global public to inform themselves objectively about the events in Wuhan.
"I would especially like to stress the inappropriate attitude of some world media about the problem faced by the citizens of Wuhan. Biased information, spreading panic and fear have produced negative reactions and negative attitudes of some people abroad towards Chinese nationals who find themselves there. I urge the global public to objectively inform itself about the events in Wuhan, the events in China, because the virus is a sudden occurrence. And no one can rule out the possibility that a new virus will emerge in one of those countries that are currently not showing enough understanding for the problems China is facing," he said.
The Serbian ambassador in Beijing also praised the Chinese leadership for their treatment of both Chinese and foreign nationals who found themselves in the territory where the coronavirus epidemic is present.
"Of course, the Chinese leadership that manages this operation is fully aware of the gravity of the situation, that leadership and healthcare professionals, and each Chinese citizen shows a high level of awareness by treating foreign nationals in China equally. Foreign nationals as well as Chinese nationals are equally protected and this is something that is highly commendable and for which we can praise China," he said.
