Young man from Backo Gradiste buried his mother in the yard: Possibility of murder investigated
N. F., 24, from Backo Gradiste, is suspected of killing and burying his mother, Dusica, in the backyard of their house in Samu Mihalja Street in the fall of last year. The police found the body of Dusica F., 55, on Tuesday, while her son, who lived with her, has been arrested and detained, the daily Dnevnik writes.
According to locals, the suspicion is that N.F. killed his mother last year - but the possibility is not ruled out that the unfortunate woman died a natural death and was buried by her son in the yard because he had no money to give her a proper funeral.
Neighbors say they knew the late woman, her son and her husband, who left the family in 2017 and moved to Germany.
As they say in Backo Gradiste, when the police arrested N.F. he told them that his mother had passed away and that he had wrapped the body in a blanket and buried it in the yard of the house in 31 Samu Mihalja Street.
"On Tuesday, the police arrived to the backyard of the house with the suspect and he showed them the place where he buried his mother. Her body was found there," the locals say.
Residents of this street noticed that Dusice was missing since the fall, and when they asked the young man where his mother was, he told them that she had died. The police recently found out that the woman was dead and that her son had buried her in the yard, so they immediately went to his house.
They dug up the ground around the house and found the bones of the unfortunate woman.
"The father of the young man, who left him and his mother in 2017 to move to Germany, started to inquire among relatives and friends where his wife was buried, because he wanted to obtain her death certificate as evidence that she had passed away so that he could get married again. That's when the secret started to unravel because she was still alive according to official records, so Nikola was caught in his lie and arrested," a source told the daily Blic.
What exactly happened will be known after the investigation is complete. Exhumation has been ordered and an autopsy will determine whether the woman died of natural or violent causes.
