False information appears on social networks that authorities are hiding coronavirus cases in Serbia

Information that there is already one patient in Serbia suffering from the new coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China, is spreading on social networks - however, as Telegraf has learned, this is false information.

It is claimed online that 28-year-old man, S.S., has contracted coronavirus but that our authorities are silent about it, raising the question "why?"

The Ministry of Health told Telegraf.rs that there is no such patient, and that a person with such initials did not see a doctor.

"In the last three days no person with such initials saw a doctor, and we remind you that there are no persons infected with the virus in our country yet. When there are, the public will be informed," the Ministry of Health told Telegraf.rs.

There is only suspicion that a Serbian who is currently in quarantine in India has the disease. He was admitted to the hospital with his wife, J.J., after complaining of a dry and sore throat, and after arriving in India from China last week.

Coronavirus has not yet been confirmed in his case as the results of the tests are still pending, the Ministry of Health told Telegraf. They are constantly in touch with the health authorities in India.
