Vucic opposes banning work on Sundays: "This has not proved to be a good move in the region"

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today that he did not understand the idea of ​​introducing a work ban on Sundays, and indicated that Serbia should take advantage of the fact that its economy is faster growing than others at the moment and not stop now.

"I don't know whose idea it is. I saw that Montenegro and Croatia had adopted this. I'm against it. Every person would like to have guaranteed free time. You can do it, but don't make me, I want to work," he said.

Vucic pointed out that ban on work on Sundays in Montenegro and Croatia did not prove to be a good move.

"Now that we have an economic growth we need to stimulate it, to brag about doing more, not less. I know no one likes to hear it, but it's true," he pointed out.

Noting that citizens would not like not to see stores closed on Sundays, Vucic said that there are also more important parts of the economy that need to be open for business.

"You know how work on Sundays is paid. Don't prevent people from working on Sundays," he said.

Vucic said that after this they would start asking us not to work on Fridays, not to work from 7 to 4, and then from 9 to 5, and so on.

"Best not to do anything and have big wages. I don't think that's realistic and I never liked to deceive people, we should not make such decisions," he said.

He stressed that he did not understand the change in working hours, and that this was his criticism of Minister Zoran Djordjevic.
