Bus driver who died after incident with lawyer at Pozarevac station laid to rest
The funeral of bus driver Z.M. (55), who was attacked 16 days earlier by one of the passengers in Pozarevac, has gathered, according to his colleagues, an unprecedented number of people in the village cemetery in Veliko Laole.
In silence disturbed only by a sound of someone crying, relatives, friends and colleagues offered their condolences to Zoran's family.
Visibly shaken friends, colleagues and relatives could not contain their tears as they passed by Zoran's casket. He died on Wednesday morning in the Pozarevac hospital after a 16-day battle.
The mourners first made their way from the house to the chapel and then to the village cemetery where Zoran was buried.
The driver was taken ill shortly after he was attacked by a passenger, D.M., a lawyer from Veliko Gradiste. The incident allegedly occurred over lost luggage.
The driver had been on a ventilator since November 24, when the incident happened. He had a previous heart condition.
The attacker was arrested for violent behavior, and if it is proved that the driver's death was linked to the attack, the indictment could cover a more serious criminal act.
