Boakye the Serb! These are his words after Ghana withdraws recognition of Kosovo
The news that Ghana has withdrawn its recognition of Kosovo was welcomed by Red Star Belgrade football club's striker Richmond Boakye, who told Telegraf that he was proud of his country's decision.
He stressed that Serbia is a country from which he received a great deal of love, and that he was delighted with the withdrawal of recognition of Kosovo - which he points out to as proof of Serbia's alliance with his Ghana.
"I'm very glad this happened. It's a fantastic thing for me that Serbia, a country from which I receive and feel so much love, is in a sincere alliance with my Ghana. When I'm in Ghana, I always talk about Serbia. Now I will have a special reason to do so. I am proud," Boakye said in a brief statement for Telegraf.
At each match, Red Star fans display banners reading "No Surrender" (Serbian: Nema predaje) and, Kosovo is Serbia - so there is no doubt that they'll like Boakye even more after this decision made by his home country.
Ghana this week became the 16th state to withdraw recognition of Kosovo; according to announcements from Serbian officials, there will be more such withdrawals by the end of the year.
