Father of murder victim Violeta tells how Dusan slaughtered her, and the eerie words he uttered

Violeta was bleeding terribly, but she was alive. As I carried her to the hospital in Koceljeva in my arms, I felt that she died. At that moment, the killer passed behind my back and calmly said, "I know where to stick a knife."

This is how Dragisa Josic (51), the father of Violeta Josic (19), who was murdered on Sunday in her family home in the village of Batalage near Koceljeva by Dusan Petronijevic (33), begins his story for the daily Informer. Petronijevic stabbed the girl in the neck with a knife as many as 15 times, because he couldn't bear the fact that they were no longer in a relationship.

"You see, Dusan had been in our home countless times. We would sit and sometimes drink together. I thought, that's it, he'll be my son in law," says Dragisa.

The inconsolable father says that Violeta arrived home from work on the fatal morning and that Dusan met her at the gate.

"They went into a room and soon there was a cry, 'Dusan please don't!' My wife Ljiljana, Violeta's stepmother, rushed into the room fort and saw Dusan sitting on my only child and stabbing her with a knife. He looked at Ljiljana with a wild look on his face and moved toward her, but she fled the room and started calling out to me," Dragisa says, adding:

"I immediately ran into the room and saw blood spurt from my Violeta. I lost my mind. I lifted her off the floor and ran to the car. I put her in the front seat, Ljiljana sat in the back, and with her, Dusan, who held a knife in his hand. If you were to ask me now how he got there, I really wouldn't be able to tell you."

Violeta's father said that while he was driving to the hospital in Koceljeva, he was constantly trying to help his daughter.

"With one hand, I held the steering wheel, and with the other, I was removing blood clots from her mouth. At one point I noticed that one of her legs went limp and fell on the gearbox. When we arrived in Koceljeva, Violeta was still alive, but soon passed away. Unfortunately, I didn't get to the hospital fast enough to save the life of my only child. There is no punishment severe enough for what Dusan has done," said the inconsolable Dragisa.

Ljiljana Josipovic, the stepmother of the murder victim, pointed out that Violeta was a good, cheerful and hard working girl.

"About ten days ago, she got a job at a juice factory. Dusan and I were planning to buy her a car so she could get to work more easily. This is all horrible," said Ljiljana.

Violeta Josic will be buried today in a local cemetery in her home village of Batalage.
