Never forget your Serbia: Vucic announces personal gift to Serb children in Hungary (PHOTO)

Within his two-day visit to Hungary President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic visited a Serb kindergarten, a primary and a secondary school, and the Nikola Tesla collegium and library in Budapest.

Vucic was greeted at the entrance to the school by Headmistress Jovanka Lastic, the president of the Serb self-government in Hungary, Vera Pejic Sutor, and a member of the Hungarian parliament of Serb descent, Ljubomir Aleksov.

At the entrance to the school, the president was also greeted by children wearing traditional costumes, welcoming him with bread and salt.

His message for the school administration was to report any problem they may encounter and send any requests they may have to the Serbian ambassador in Budapest. He also thanked Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for all that he has done to make sure the conditions for the students improved. He stressed that Serbia is ready to invest much more money than it did before.

The children then asked the president questions - so Marko Stulic asked the state of Serbia to help with textbooks and dictionaries.

"I will donate 200 books from my personal library. Serbia will be providing textbooks for as long as necessary," said Vucic.

Asked by the headmistress if the state would help buy a building  next door in order to expand the school, Vucic said the state would do it, even though the building is not cheap.

"We created a beautiful Serb House in Podgorica. We will create one in Zagreb as well, and we want to have something that is much nicer than such houses, and those are Serbian educational institutions," he said.

One student asked if it was possible for the mother country to organize school competitions for students and children from this region, to which Vucic replied that this was not his area of expertise but that he would convey the question to the competent minister, adding that he saw no problem or reason for students from Budapest not to receive invitation letters to take part in competitions in Serbia.

"We are counting on you, only can count on our Serbia. Have much energy and fight for your families, but never forget Serbia and fight for her, too," he said.

The president received a gift, an artistic painting depicting Vuk Karadzic, painted by Ana Rebovic.

He also visited the library and the kindergarten center where about 60 children were divided into several groups. Vucic noted that the children spoke Serbian well, although some of them have not arrive recently, but were born in Budapest. He also noted that the conditions for educators and children were good, and reiterated his willingness to help in every way possible, including through contacts with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

The president in this way ended his two-day visit to Hungary.
