Two Bulgarian women who mugged a mother with baby in downtown Belgrade placed under arrest
N. S. (33) and S.P. (23), both Bulgarian nationals, have been arrested in Belgrade for stealing a wallet from a baby's stroller. The theft took place on Sunday in Knez Mihailova Street.
It is suspected that they stole the wallet from a pocket on the stroller of their victim's baby. The incident happened on Sunday in a store in the central Belgrade street.
The two Bulgarians are suspected of mugging Irena Vuckovic, a mother from Belgrade. Before the act, they were disgracefully "accosting" the stroller that contained Irena's three-year-old and the wallet. They entered the store separately and one of them wore a cap.
The woman at one point turned her child toward her, and as she was looking around the store, the back of the stroller was accessible to one of the thieves. Then suddenly, both offenders showed up behind the child's back, creating commotion around them.
When the mother turned away from the stroller for a moment to look at an item, the woman with the cap just put her hand in the stroller's pocket and took the wallet.
The suspects have been detained for up to 48 hours and will then be charged and taken before the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade.
