Real medieval sword in stone found in Vrbas River - now modern-day King Arthur needs to step up
Divers from the RK BUK club in Banja Luka have found a long medieval sword in the stone at the bottom of the Vrbas River near the town - and in all likelihood, this is a significant archaeological find!
It was soon established that the discovery of the hand-and-a-half, or bastard sword appeared to be a significant archaeological find.
Such swords are relatively rare in our region, which is why recovering the weapon and its conservation are a top priority.
As the sword is literally stabbed into a stone, it is necessary to perform underwater separation of the stone/rock around the sword, as the sword must be recovered together with a part of the stone/rock.
In the territory of Banja Luka, the largest town in the Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina, only one medieval sword has been found in nearly 90 years - and that one was quite damaged.
