The former president of the Republic of Montenegro, Momir Bulatovic passed away due to heart attack

Former Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Momir Bulatovic (63) and President of Montenegro died yesterday in the village of Raci, in Kuci. According to unofficial information, he died of a heart attack.

Momir Bulatovic was one of the few consistent politicians in this region, who truly fought for the union of Serbia and Montenegro. People elected him as the first president of Montenegro.

Bulatovic was born in 1956 in Belgrade, he attended elementary school and gymnasium in Zadar, Croatia. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica, where he completed his master's degree in 1986. He defended his doctoral dissertation from the field of management at the European University in Belgrade in 2006. At the same university, he was elected as a professor.

He has published dozens of scientific and professional papers from political economy and international relations. He also wrote several books. The last is Economy and Democracy - keep your head high (Podgorica, 2011).

In the area of public relations, he is the author of books: Less than a game - more than life (1991); Montenegro - ecological state (1996); Rules of silence (2004) and Unspoken defense (2006).

He was President of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of  Montenegro from 1990 to 1992, President of the Republic of Montenegro from 1993 to 1998 and President of the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1998 to 2000.

He is a founder of DPS, SNP, and NSS, and withdrew from politics in 2001. 

After having been engaged in politics, he dedicated himself to private business and professional development.

He was last seen in public at the funeral of Mirjana Markovic in April.
