They drove over the flooded roads in Serbia, they moved through the torrents and it seemed as if they got into a river itself (VIDEO)

High precipitation during the previous day caused a flood in the municipality of Svilajnac, which is why an emergency situation has been declared in that municipality today.

- There were floods of the village streams. All crews are on the field, the situation is still critical, and the members of the Cuprija Water Distribution company are helping as well - stated in the announcement.

A part of the disaster which struck this municipality was transmitted by its residents with footages while driving through flooded streets. The footage shows a pump and its surroundings. It was almost impossible to see if the vehicle was moving over a safe location, in a river, or on the road.

Mayor of Svilajnac, Predrag Milanovic, said that five villages were endangered, and the most critical situation is in the villages of Subotica, Sedlare, Troponja and Vojska, where all people and machines were hired to defend the houses.

He added that there are no houses that are flooded and that they are making the canals to drain the water with machines. Milanovic stated that all the citizens have water and electricity. Svilajnac experienced the catastrophic floods in 2014 when river Resava flooded.

Thanks to the regulation, this river is now back in its riverbed.
