The United States supports the implementation of the Brussels Agreement and the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, the US Embassy in Serbia announced, apparently responding to the statement of the president of the provisional Pristina institutions, Hashim Thaci, that he would not allow the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities.

The United States supports full implementation of all commitments undertaken in the Brussels Dialogue. That also includes the obligations regarding formation of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities - stated the American embassy on Twitter.

Although there are no statements that this is a response to Thaci's statement, the mentioning of ASM implies that this is a response to his threat.

Thaci stated that he would not allow the establishment of the Association of Serb Municipalities, because, as he said, that would mean the formation of Republika Srpska in Kosovo.

- It is true that I had previously agreed with the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, but the circumstances have changed and we can not allow this in return for visa liberalization - Thaci said, adding that the taxes must remain in force.

On the other hand, the EU's silence on this statement by Thaci was commented by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

- I am no longer expecting anything. They didn't react to the fact that the man (Hashim Thaci) said he changed his opinion and he will no longer fulfill Brussels agreement (regarding the Community of Serbian Municipalities) which I signed because the circumstances have changes - that is the end of international right. International legal agreements no longer mean a thing - said Vucic to the reporters in Loznica.
